Apart from its famous cathedral, castle and university. Durham is a great place for interesting walks, a spot for a coffee fiend and worth a stop by for a lovely meal. There’s nothing better than a relaxing lunch at Bells Fish Restaurant before visiting the cathedral and castle. We had a table by the window and enjoyed the view of Market Place, it was the best fish and chips I’ve eaten. We had Cod fish with chips and Haddock with salads, both are absolutely delicious but Haddock is my favourite. Fresh and perfectly cooked with thin and crispy batter.

Walked down the historic cobbled street on the way back from the cathedral, we were looking for a place to keep us away from the brisk wind. Be Tempted is a dainty little shop with good selection of cupcake flavours, scones and cakes. I really can’t pick a favourite, but you can never go wrong with vanilla cupcakes, moist and not too sweet.

Durham is small but there’s plenty coffee shops. Flat White Cafe is my favourite coffee shop by far. Finishing our trip in a hip yet relaxed vibe, located in the alley near to the Elvet Bridge, what a great find! Ordered a flat white and it was great, velvety and rich. We also had hot chocolate, chai tea latte and ginger cake. Heading back for their food at Flat White Kitchen next time!
